Hope for Today

Experiencing the Hope of Jesus Christ

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Upon this very statement

hands our Christian faith. There are those who say Jesus’ resurrection doesnt matter and that if he didn’t rise from the dead then we could still be Christians. But that is simply not so. St. Paul makes this clear in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 beginning

at verse 12 14and if Christ has not been raised from death, then we have nothing to preach and you have nothing to believe.... 17And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is a delusion and you are still lost in your sins.

Easter is the most Holy of days and even season in the church year. This is hope not only for the church, but for the entire world. Why would anyone not want to believe in Jesus? Jesus came to give us life now and most importantly eternal life.

20But the truth is that Christ has been raised from death, as the guarantee that those who sleep in death will also be raised.21For just as death came by means of a man, in the same way the rising from death comes by means of a man.22For just as all people die because of their union with Adam, in the same way all will be raised to life because of their union with Christ. 1 Corinthians 15: 14, 17, 20- 22.

If we are raised from the dead in Christ, as we are in our baptism, then we are Easter people. We live in the power of the resurrection whereby sin doesn’t have a hold over us. We dont have to sin. We are not captive to it. In Christ Jesus we are free from its grip. And we live in the power of the risen Lord as Jesus representatives in this world as we wait for the coming day in heaven. Take heart today and every day. Jesus is alive. His life lives in those who believe. Hes given us the power and love of the Holy Spirit to live as people of faith and hope in a messed-up world that needs the healing love of Jesus. Let’s be the Easter people who have thrown off the grave clothes and live in the power of resurrection life. Christ is risen. So are you.

In ministry together, Pastor Pam
